WE DO HAVE TO DECIDE FOR GOD IN THIS LIFE
The Bible is very clear that there will be a judgement day, the only thing that we can be judged on is what we have done in this present life, Jesus told this story below to illustrate this point.
Luke 16:19–31
"There was a rich man who dressed in expensive cloths and lived in luxury.
At the gate to his property was a beggar named Lazarus, he was hungry and covered with sores
he longed to eat what the rich man wasted. Even dogs came and licked his sores.
The beggar died and angels carried him to be with Abraham in heaven. The rich man also died
but he went to hell, where he was suffering terribly, he looked up and saw Abraham and Lazarus who were far away, with.
So the rich man called to him, 'Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
"But Abraham replied, remember that in your lifetime you had all good things, while Lazarus received had all bad things, but now he is happy here and you are in agony.
And besides all this, there is a great chasm fixed between us, so those who want to come to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'
"The rich man then said, I beg you, send Lazarus to my father's house,
as I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so they will not come to this place of pain.'
"Abraham replied, 'They can read what Moses and the Prophets said; let them pay attention to them.'
"'No, Abraham,' he said, ' if someone who’s died goes to them, they will listen and turn to God.'
"Abraham said to him, 'If they will not believe Moses and the Prophets, they will not be believe even if someone comes back from the dead.'"
Moses and the Prophets tried to turn people towards God and to encourage people to do what was right in God's eyes.
They also predicted the coming of a saviour who would reconcile us to God, the saviour was and is needed as we are all incapable of meeting God's standards,( Rom 3:23).
So God out of his kindness sent his son Jesus to be a sacrifice for our sins. (Rom 3:24–25) .
The only way to God is through Jesus (John 14:6)
and he said we have to be born again (John 3:3)
We have to have a spiritual birth as well as our natural birth (John 3:5).
We have to truly believe in Jesus (Rom 10:9).
Then say to God that we are truly sorry, we need to be baptised and we will receive the gift of the Holy spirit (Acts 2:38).
This is the start of our walk with Jesus to join him in heaven with his Father, we need to keep going (Phil 2:12).
